About Advanced Substrate Technologies Pte. Ltd.

We are a Singapore-based subsidiary of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., a Japanese pioneer in printing technologies and a leading supplier of high-quality Flip Chip Ball Grid Array (FC-BGA) substrates. We are the first factory in Singapore to pioneer the manufacturing of high-end FC-BGA substrates used in cutting-edge semiconductor products such as network switches and artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) devices.

Additionally, our facility will conduct research and development (R&D) aimed at advancing substrate technologies to meet the evolving performance requirements of future products in these domains. Broadcom Inc., a global technology leader specializing in semiconductor design, enterprise software, and security solutions, is also actively supporting the establishment of this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Singapore.

 

About the Role

AST is seeking an experienced Principal Technologist to lead Yield and Integration on ground-breaking panel-level packaging technology. As the yield and quality leader in the Integration Team, you will own and drive next generation process technology qualification to meet customer product requirements for performance, reliability, and yield, and transfer the technologies to high-volume manufacturing. You will guide yield improvement roadmaps, process technology development, defect reduction activities, and early-stage production ramps while using data analytics and rigorous problem-solving to accelerate yield maturity and ensure best-in-class quality. This role is ideal for a senior-level yield technical leader with a strong foundation in data analytics and extensive experience in semiconductor and substrate manufacturing integration.

 

Resposibilities

Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Own yield improvement strategy from ramp to technology transfer including detailed roadmap action plans to meet defect density, yield and quality metrics for technology qualification.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams of tool, design, manufacturing, reliability, and integration engineers to drive yield and quality metrics to best-in-class for technology qualification.
• Identify failure mode root cause and resolve process-related issues through model-based problem-solving methodology and robust correct action plans.
• Use advanced analytics and statistical modelling tools to draw conclusions and provide data-driven decisions to improve process window and yield
• Own defect metrology and electrical test data analytics along with inline defect-process-control monitors to build predictive yield models and drive technology development roadmap.
• Drive defect fault-isolation, failure analysis, and low-yield-analysis characterization activities to identify failure mode root cause.
• Create manufacturing data analytics solutions and apply advanced statistical, machine-learning, and multivariate analysis tools to accelerate learning cycles.
• Provide clear, compelling data-driven insights to technical leadership, customers, and executives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance, reliability, and yield in cost effective way

• Permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week

 

Required Qualifications

• MS or PhD degree in Engineering, or relevant major, with 10+ years of experiences in semiconductor or advanced substrate manufacturing.
• 5+ years’ experience in program-level technical leadership or platform integration
• Strong background in data analytics and statistical methods
• Proficient in JMP with experience in JSL, Python, and SQL
• Proven success in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in semiconductor or advanced packaging technology development manufacturing
• Excellent communication skills, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with defect metrology and electrical test data analysis, low-yield-analysis (LYA), and failure analysis (FA) techniques and methods
• Experienced with model-based-problem-solving methodology and Lean-Six-Sigma manufacturing principals
• PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Material Science
• 10+ years technical leadership experience in yield and quality integration
• Proficient in Python and JMP Scripting Language (JSL)
• Experience in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
• Experience in advanced panel-level processing, RDL, FOWLP, 2.5D/3D advanced packaging.
• Strong background in building custom data analytics tools and machine-learning methods and applications.
• Experience with thermo-mechanical modelling, process tolerance analysis, statistical modelling, and design-for-yield (DFY) principals.
• Proven success in leading programs through technology development ramp and transfer.
