About Advanced Substrate Technologies Pte. Ltd.

We are a Singapore-based subsidiary of TOPPAN Holdings Inc., a Japanese pioneer in printing technologies and a leading supplier of high-quality Flip Chip Ball Grid Array (FC-BGA) substrates. We are the first factory in Singapore to pioneer the manufacturing of high-end FC-BGA substrates used in cutting-edge semiconductor products such as network switches and artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) devices.

Additionally, our facility will conduct research and development (R&D) aimed at advancing substrate technologies to meet the evolving performance requirements of future products in these domains. Broadcom Inc., a global technology leader specializing in semiconductor design, enterprise software, and security solutions, is also actively supporting the establishment of this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Singapore. 

 

About the role

As a Japanese-English interpreter you play a crucial role in bridging communication between speakers of Japanese and English, ensuring accurate and effective exchange of information. You are responsible for interpreting spoken words in real-time, whether in business meetings, conferences, medical settings, or legal proceedings. This requires not only fluency in both languages but also a deep understanding of cultural nuances and specialized terminology in different fields. You must quickly analyze and convey the message while maintaining the tone, context, and intent, often working under pressure. Your role is essential in fostering cross-cultural understanding and ensuring clear communication between individuals or groups who do not share a common language.

Responsibilities

Interpretation Services:

• Provide accurate and professional interpretation between Japanese and English speakers in real-time during meetings, conferences, presentations, and business discussions.
• Translate verbal communications, ensuring all information is conveyed clearly and accurately without altering the intended meaning.
• Offer consecutive, simultaneous, or whispered interpretation depending on the specific requirements of the session.
• Interpret during phone calls, video conferences, and other virtual meetings as needed.

Translation Support:

• Assist with translating written materials, including documents, emails, reports, and presentations from Japanese to English and vice versa.
• Ensure all translations are culturally appropriate and linguistically precise, maintaining the context, tone, and nuances of the original message.
• Provide timely translations for internal and external communication, ensuring all parties have access to necessary documents in both languages.

Cultural Mediation:

• Act as a cultural mediator, providing insights and clarifications regarding cultural differences when interpreting between Japanese and English speakers.
• Help bridge any potential communication gaps, ensuring mutual understanding in both languages and cultural contexts.
• Advise on cultural etiquette and appropriate communication styles for meetings and negotiations, especially in a business or corporate setting.

Meeting and Event Support:

• Support executives, managers, and other stakeholders by interpreting during business meetings, training sessions, or conferences as required.
• Assist in preparing for international meetings or events by coordinating translation materials and interpreting logistics.
• Ensure that all participants have a clear understanding of discussions and decisions made during meetings.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain a log of translation and interpretation services provided, including details of meetings, sessions, and assignments.
• Provide feedback to improve communication processes and any challenges faced during interpretation.
• Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Manager, as required to support the team and organizational goals.

 

Location & Commitments

• Premises located in 9 Pesawat Drive, Singapore 619607 or any other location
• Permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week

 

Job Requirements

Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering and Manufacturing discipline is a plus.
• Native or near-native fluency in both Japanese and English (both spoken and written).
• Proven experience as an interpreter, preferably in a business or corporate setting.
• Certification in interpretation (such as JLPT, NAATI, or other recognized credentials) is a plus.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

• Experience in simultaneous or consecutive interpretation, particularly in business, legal, or technical settings.
• Knowledge of business terminology, especially related to the industry or organization’s field.
• Familiarity with interpretation equipment (e.g., headsets, microphones) for events or large-scale meetings.
• Previous experience working with international teams or clients is a plus.

Competencies:

• Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Excellent listening and comprehension skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and facilitate cross-cultural communication effectively.

Competitive Remuneration & Benefits Package

Salary range: SGD4,500~7,500
